Everything is Teacher: Finding Inspiration Everywhere with M P Landis
WHERE:
Brooklyn Workshop Gallery 393 Hoyt Street Brooklyn, NY 11231 Sunday, November 10, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm (with studio time until 5:00 p.m.)
This 1 day process-oriented workshop is open to anyone interested in pushing through creative blocks or ruts, or who just needs a good jump-start. The course is taught through visual means, but is open to those in all creative fields, veteran and novice alike. We will explore ways of incorporating our experiences and the world around us to awaken our creativity and push through our fears and judgments.
There will be in-class and a few out-of-class assignments utilizing drawing, painting and collage along with other exercises, such as collaboration and random function. There will be opportunity for individual conferences exploring your own projects and/or goals to any participant who is interested.
Materials:
NOTE: there will be many materials available for you to use on-site for free. A few additional papers are available at cost.
Please do bring paper, glue or glue stick, drawing instruments, a bottle(s) of ink, and anything else you may want to work with.
For paper, you will want a decent supply of white/light colored loose pages (from a sketch book or ripped down from larger paper). Note you will be able to rip paper on site if you like from larger rolls. A good working size for some exercises is 8.5 x 10, anywhere from 6 x 8 to 11 x 14. You want the size to be something big enough to work with in terms of holding information but also small enough to comfortably carry around in a pile in a backpack or bag. if you want, bring different types of paper and sizes.
Drawing instruments pencils, pens, crayons, charcoal, anything you like to use or want to try.
Glue stick my favorite is Pentel roll'n'glue which can often be found in pharmacy stationary sections, for some reason.
Bottle of ink bring at least 1 bottle of ink, any color, any type.
Space is limited. Reservation recommended.
