May Bank Holiday Foraging Walks
A walk-and-talk in one of London's smaller, wilder green spaces.
As April turns to May, we're thrown into the liminality of the Spring/Summer transition. March's young green herbs are maturing and some early Summer wildflowers are beginning to colour our hedgerows. For those of us who are new to foraging, this is a chance to learn to identify a myriad of useful and interesting plants. If youve been on a foraging walk before then youre still more than welcome, but dont expect the same experience - plants like to grow and change. The walks are built on general discussion and might also include a sprinkle of bushcraft, fungus chat, some natural navigation techniques, and beyond. As well as identification, we will be discussing plant folklore, recipes, traditional medicinal uses, different methods of preparation and other ways to integrate them into our lives. We might even meet some poisonous ones
As always, there is one free place available on each walk for someone who is unemployed or has suffered financial hardship due to COVID. If this is you, dont hesitate to get in touch via DM.
DISCLAIMER As is stipulated by local councils, we wont be picking the plants (nibbles are permitted.) The objective is to help you get to know them better, so that you can explore your local area and find somewhere that theyre growing abundantly. The dwindling green spaces in London make it all the more important that we are respectful ð¿ð¿ð¿
COVID In line with government rules, this event is limited to 5 places - get in quick! Social distancing rules will apply.
