An angel, Clarence, helps a compassionate but despairingly frustrated George Bailey by showing what life would have been like if he never existed. It's a Wonderful Life is an American Christmas drama based on the short story "The Greatest Gift", written by Philip Van Doren Stern in 1939, and privately published by the author in 1945. This story is considered one of the most inspirational and best loved Christmas stories in American History.
