W. Kamau Bell, Bucky Sinister, and Nato Green--three of the Bay Area's most deeply underground and thought-provoking comedians-- band together on New Year's Eve for a unique comedy summit: Laughter Against The Machine. LATM is a stand-up comedy show which promises an evening filled with biting political and social commentary that will attack all points along the spectrum from the rightest right to the leftest left. So if you want a New Year's Eve full of "WHOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!" and "I'M SOOOOOOOOOOO WASTED!" and "AS MUCH AS I PAID TO GET IN HERE I BETTER HAVE A GOOD TIME!" then this is not the show for you. You have plenty of events to choose from. But if you want to witness a night of three completely different styles of comedians who all live at the edge of their intelligence, then come to Laughter Against The Machine. This is an evening of three of the Bay Area's most acclaimed comedians doing what they do best, expressing their opinions in hilariously awesome ways, without the yoke of two drink minimums, or confetti, or "LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO MY SHOES!" Just come. Sit down. Laugh. Go home.
ABOUT THE COMEDIANS
W. Kamau Bell has been called very much in the mold of politically outspoken comedians like Dave Chappelle and Margaret Cho. Kamau was named Best Comedian 2008 by The SF Weekly. Also seen on Comedy Central's Premium Blend and performing his critically-acclaimed solo show, The W. Kamau Bell Curve: Ending Racism In About An Hour.
Bucky Sinister has been called a cross between David Sedaris and Dog The Bounty Hunter. Bucky has published three books of poetry, a CD of spoken word comedy that Spin Magazine listed among "tracks you must download now," and a new untraditional self-help book entitled "Get Up.
Nato Green is in the tradition of great Jewish comedians like Lenny Bruce, Mort Sahl, and Joe Leiberman. Nato is the mastermind of Iron Comic, Laugh Out the Vote, Laughing Liberally Local 415, and the New Jew Revue. He's appeared in the Progressive Reading Series and SF Sketchfest 2008.
Both shows are hosted by comedian Marcella Arguello.
