Breach by Egan Reich
Five whaling widows are faced with the toughest night or their lives. On the same day the sea takes their husbands, it offers up a beached whale, and with it the possibility of financial freedom. The women set out to do their husbands work, harvesting the whale oil to buy their way to New York City and to a new life that they control. But first they have to figure out how to kill it, cut it open and avoid the sharks circling - all before day break. This hyper-physical show is an allegory of individualism vs. collectivism, asking the question - Is rabid individualism what it takes to get ahead and what is the cost?
