Growing the Market for Forest Resources: Beyond Trees and Timber
While alternative fuels and new technologies often come to mind when people discuss new markets and innovation, Oregon will be wise to also remember its roots and capitalize on its strength in natural resources, in particular our forest resources. Our speakers will discuss two different and interrelated approaches to expanding the markets. Peter Hayes will present the local value-added marketing of timber products which has similarities to the Community Supported Agriculture model. Bettina von Hagen will share Ecotrust's development of a private equity forestland investment fund designed for investors seeking triple bottom line returns, and focused on developing the full array of forest products and services, from high-value logs to carbon credits.
