Herbicides, Pesticides and the Honey Bee
During this presentation, Jim Miller and Gina Jackson will be addressing the following topics: (1) How chemical herbicides and pesticides have a direct effect on honey bees and other crawling and flying insects. (2) How does the chemical get into the Honey Bee? (3) How can we grow our plants, flowers and vegetables and help the honey bee and crawling and flying insects? Come listen to Jim and Gina and get ideas on how to make you flower bed and garden environmentally friendly.

Jim Miller has been a beekeeper for about 20 years. He has been on three Farmer to Farmer trips, two to the Republic of George and the third to Egypt. Where Jim worked with the local beekeepers in solving their problems. Jim has been teaching classes for the last 15 years. The Millers Homestead LLC is Certified as Naturally Grown Apiaries. No chemicals in the hive or on the land they are setting on. Jim is also a Certified Master Beekeeper. The only one in Eastern Washington. Come join Jim and learn the basics of Urban Beekeeping.

Gina Jackson, AA is well known as a landscape gardener in the Cheney Area. She has extensive knowledge of flowering plants, how they work, and which ones are the most beneficial to the honey bee. Gina has designed and helped with the implementation of flowers at Millers Homestead LLC.
