Mine by Laura Marks
Proxy opens its third season with a compelling contemporary play, Mine by Laura Marks. With 2/3 of the playwrights this season being women, the opening production focuses on a problem that is inherently female-- motherhood. "Mine twists and turns and will keep you guessing until the very end," says Artistic Director Aaron Aguilar.
Mari has everything a new mother could want, including a loving husband, a confident midwife, and a mom eagerly awaiting to help. But the next morning, Mari is certain that the newborn girl isn't hers. A "contemporary thriller with age-old roots", Mine touches upon a deep, dark place inside of all women.
