Advanced Wheel Lacing
Beyond Wheelbuilding: Fanciful Filigree & Leftfield Lacing
Learning to lace, tension and true a bicycle wheel is a rite of passage for any mechanic, amateur or professional. The basics are not especially complicated, and, once one has built a couple of wheels, the motions begin to become instinctive and the whole process becomes, dare we say it... fun, not to mention deeply satisfying.
So, what next? If you've already taken our Wheelbuilding Class or are otherwise a competent wheelbuilder, perhaps it's time to consider taking it to the next level.
This is where our Advanced Wheelbuilding Class comes in: breaking free of the conventional spoke lacing patterns and creating some rare & personal hoops for your steed, the Class skips the wheelbuilding basics and goes straight for the heart of the famous 'Snowflake' lacing, followed by 'three-leading, three-trailing' or, as we like to term it, 'The Basketcase'.
Your teacher will be "Gorgeous" George, mechanic and wheel builder extraordinaire.
Sign up, come along, and spend a few hours lacing up two wheels in these unique styles and leave with new inspiration for your bike.
This is an advanced level wheels class. You must know how to build wheels already in a 3-cross pattern.
NB: Please note that you will be learning on our own rims, hubs, and spokes. You will not be able to take the wheel home with you.
Class will take place on Saturday 23 November, 11am - 2pm. Bottomless coffee and tea will be provided.
Only 4 spots available, get in there!
