"The Elasticity of the Almost" A Pop-Up Performance Installation

Come and experience Backhausdance's latest work, "The Elasticity of the Almost," performed as the second event of Santa Ana Sites, a new series that presents contemporary performance in public and private spaces in and around downtown Santa Ana.
Audience members will be immersed in the work as the dancers perform on multiple levels of a loft space. Be prepared to move, shift perspective, and experience a concert dance from the inside. Wear comfortable shoes.
Audience capacity is intimate & limited. Please arrive 15 minutes before the performance.
ABOUT BACKHAUSDANCE Founded as a not-for-profit 501(c3) organization by Jennifer Backhaus in 2003, Backhausdance is Orange County's critically acclaimed contemporary dance company known for an eclectic and dynamic movement vocabulary that expresses a wonderful sense of fluidity and strength. The company was recently recognized as "one of seven emerging dance companies in North America" by New York's Joyce SoHo. Backhausdance has performed extensively at venues and festivals including the INBOUND Festival at Joyce SoHo in New York City, Fall for Dance at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts (formerly Orange County Performing Arts Center), Laguna Dance Festival, the Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Celebrate Dance Festival at the Alex Theatre, Studio Series at South Coast Repertory, and Ten Tiny Dances at Segerstrom Center of the Arts. Backhausdance has received fifteen nominations and ten Lester Horton awards from the Dance Resource Center of Los Angeles for achievements in choreography, design, and performance, helping propel the company to the forefront of Southern California contemporary, modern dance.
In addition to concert dance, each year the company serves thousands of people through its arts education programs. Backhausdance is a member of the ArtsTeach artist roster, part of the Segerstom Center for the Arts' Education and Community Programs department, reaching public and private schools throughout Orange and San Bernardino Counties. Backhausdance is also a part of the Lincoln Center Aesthetic Education Program through the McCallum Theatre Institute in Palm Desert. In addition, Backhausdance hosts over 60 students annually at its summer intensive held at Chapman University, a life-changing experience for pre-professional and professional dancers. www.backhausdance.org
