David Laskin.THE FAMILY: Three Journeys Into the Heart of the Twentieth Century
Laskin explores his heritage and honors the traditions, lives, and choices of his ancestors in an engaging family history that spans the 20th century. His family split off into three branches: one immigrated to America and founded the Maidenform Bra Company; one went to Palestine as pioneers and participated in the birth of the State of Israel; and the third remained in Europe and was lost in the Holocaust. Through family letters and personal stories, the compelling narrative brings these individuals to life as we witness their triumphs and tragedies in vivid detail, and at times in their own voices.
