We hope you will join us on this culinary journey through The Fertile Crescent. On this magical night, you will dine on ancient recipes, sway to Arabian songs sung by our own Narayan Light, & gaze above at the paper art of Tahiti Pehrson which will cover our beloved Paladar.  Chef Becca Imseis's cuisine is a modern twist on traditional Palestinian and Lebanese food.  It is her agenda to provide for you an evening you will not soon forget.  As a fortunate guest of this mystical affair, you may expect time-honored flavors directed toward your eager palates.  You may experience hidden sensations slowly bubble up to the surface of your awareness lending themselves to an overwhelming feeling of euphoria.  You may swiftly understand how the treasures of this earth are right in front of us and all we need is nothing at all.  You just may have somewhat of a religious experience.  Basically, what I am trying to say here, is that most likely your mind will be blown...  

Get ready for a treat us Nevada County residents don't get too darn often.  Usually we have to travel far and long to get great ethnic food.  Along with the sounds, sights, and flavors of the night, each table will have tiny bottles of oils distilled by Kirsten Schilling of Arabesque Aromas, inspired by the rich culture of Arabia.  All of which will be available to sample and/or purchase.

Chef Becca Imseis learned to cook from her family. Her Aunts, Mother, and Father played huge roles in bringing her back to her heritage of arabic foods. They gave her the tools such as old cookbooks, lessons and support that she needed to do so. Becca has been a personal chef, cooked for collaborative events, and worked as a creative chef in Jackson WY. She loves local foods and that was only reinforced when she moved to Nevada City 5 years ago. She taught herself how to grow, preserve and live the local food movement. She loves cooking for big groups of people and serving food family-style like her big arabic family eats it-- full of laughter, love, craziness.
I chose to title this special event after the controversial piece of literature called, "The Perfumed Garden of Sensual Delights". I am a sucker for fifteenth century Arabic sex manuals, what can I say? No, but seriously... with the overwhelmingly rich history the arabic world has, I knew this part could not be ignored. I encourage you to look it up but here is my favorite passage I could find:

"Woman is like a fruit, which will not yield it's sweetness until you rub it between your hands. Look at the basil plant; if you do not rub it warm with your fingers it will not emit any scent. Do you not know that the amber, unless it be handled and warmed, keeps hidden within its pores the aroma contained in it"
