Bicycle Powered Bike Lights
Free Electricity: Following Lucifer's Lead, Prometheus' Precedent & Tesla's Trail
Buying batteries, swapping cells and loading Li-ions may well be on the cards for many of us in the very-near future as the Earth's axis tilts away from the Sun and our Northern hemisphere days grow shorter. Bicycle lights are not only a legal requirement but also a pretty basic safety feature!
However, why should we be tied to battery-powered lights, be they rechargeable or not, with their habit of fizzling out at the most inconvenient and dangerous of times? Instead, treat yourself to an extra biscuit or banana and use that energy to power a set of 'dynamo lights'. These lights use a magneto which, driven by your wheel, generates an electrical current that powers a set of lights. Constant, free, low-maintenance and impossible to leave behind; dynamo-lighting is the future and we'll show you how to fit and maintain a self-powered system. And fixie, grannie, or roadie, it can be fit to any bike at all!
Your teacher will be "Gorgeous" George, mechanic and dynamo light-lover.
In this evening class, no prior experience is necessary. You will be learning how to attach a dynamo light to your bike.
NB: Please note that the cost of the dynamo light is separate - £19 - and will be charged on the day should you choose to keep the light on your bike.
This is an LBK Members Only test class - we need crash test dummies! Just enter your Membership Number as the discount code, and you're in it to win it.
Class will take place on Tuesday 23 September from 6 - 9pm. Bottomless coffee and tea will be provided.
Only 4 spots available, get in there!
