Romantasy Cabaret ~ October 19th
Romantasy Cabaret's Daringly SeXy Macabre Masquerade is back for its seventh year, showcasing a darker side to the cabaret. Lauded as a "veritable buffet of naughty pleasures" by Arizona Reporter, this bawdy and beautiful show has received such awards as Phoenix New Times Best of Phoenix award for Best Vaudeville Entertainment, runner up for Best Local Performing Art Troupe by East Valley Tribune in 2011, and Best Performance Troupe by City of Tempe for 2012. VaVaVoom, the showgirls of Romantasy Cabaret, won 2nd place for Best Performance, Group/Duo Category at the Albuquerque Burlesque and Sideshow Spectacular in 2012.
While each Romantasy Cabaret show blends dazzling cabaret with saucy songstresses, vaudeville variety with low brow comedy skits and impressive dance ensembles with sexy burlesque, the October show presents a darkly decadent costume ball with haunting numbers and wicked themes. With vibrant stage lighting, powerful music selections, impressive costumes and an engaging, yet bawdy emcee, the show twists up their usual fare and sets a darker tone with demons, evil clowns, villains and wicked witches to tickle the fancy of those with a penchant for the macabre.
Fans are encouraged to be part of the ambiance by dressing up in by-gone, Gothic-Victorian era costumes, masks, and masquerade attire fit for a soiree that may have been held in a certain count's castle. In fact, some show numbers even include willing audience members.
Romantasy Cabaret shows are held at Club Red, 2155 East University Drive in Tempe and are for patrons 21 and older. The doors open for eager fans at 7:30 p.m. and the curtain rises at 8:30pm. Romantasy Cabaret creates the mood by adding décor and party favors to the VIP and reserved seating areas. Every seat is a good seat at Club Red since the venue's stage is large and raised. This insures everyone with a good view of some of Phoenix's silliest and sexiest performers. No photography or videography of the show is allowed. However, Romantasy Cabaret has a photo booth set up for patrons to take memorable keepsake photos of the event. The cast even comes out after the show for photo opportunities with fans.
While Club Red does not serve food, the show will have Chi Chi's Tacos onsite again, selling delicious plates of good, Mexican fare and featuring their popular Sweet Potato Taco. Attendees are encouraged to bring cash for these gourmet food cart eats.
Raffle tickets are sold at Romantasy Cabaret shows to benefit the cast's favorite animal rescue and assistance charities. Raffle prizes include jewelry, Romantasy Cabaret memorabilia, free dance classes, pole fitness classes, music CDs, concert tickets, hair accessories from Torture Couture, creations by local artisans and treats from local sponsors.
Romantasy Cabaret urges advance purchase of tickets as seats will sell out. General Admission tickets are sold the night of the show at the door.
