Welcome to Thebes
The John Abbott College Department of Theatre & Music presents
"Welcome to Thebes" by Moira Buffini, Directed by Andrew Cuk.
A city named Thebes, somewhere in the 21st century. It is dawn and the city is on the brink of collapse. Newly elected President Eurydice tries to bring peace and reconciliation to her worn-torn town while violence and politics threaten to destroy what is left. Called England's metaphysical playwright, Moira Buffini re-weaves ancient myth with contemporary politics.
Set in the present day but inspired by ancient myth, "Welcome to Thebes" offers a passionate exploration of an encounter between the world's richest and the world's poorest countries in the aftermath of a brutal war.
