Bring a book. Eat great food. Drink free drinks. Leave with swag. Meet new friends. Real, and fictional.
It's the last Bookswap of 2013, and we're going out with a Big Bang. Bring a book that stimulates your neurons (science fiction counts!) and be prepared to talk it up, and then part with it. At the end, we'll have a big white elephant swap, and you'll get a chance form a chemical bond with a stray book floating around. Special Guest: MEGAN PRELINGER
Megan Prelinger is a writer on art and technology, and on local history. Her most recent book is Another Science Fiction: Advertising the Space Race (Blast Books, 2010). She is co-founder of the Prelinger Library, an independent, experimental research library that is a publicly-accessible creative workshop and research space in San Francisco. She is an artist-in-residence at the Exploratorium where she co-created the Observatory Library, an exhibit composed of a book installation and a series of five new historical atlases, all on Bay Area history. She is also a naturalist and leads birding walks for San Francisco Nature Education. Her work has been profiled in Harper's, the New York Times, and Make magazine.
Tickets (includes dinner and drinks), $25, available in the store and at Brown Paper Tickets online or 800-838-3006. This event does require advance ticket purchase; tickets won't be available at the door.
