Making Kimchi
Kimchi, Korea's fermented super food, is popping up all over the place these days. It's no wonder, since this super spicy condiment makes for a distinct, versatile addition to sandwiches, soup, pizza, noodles, rice, and much more.
Join Mei Ibach for a session on do-it-yourself kimchi making. In this three-hour workshop, you'll learn to make traditional cabbage kimchi as well as seasonal variations. Recipes will include stuffed cucumber kimchi with Asian pear and spices and traditional spiced napa cabbage kimchi which we will use as a core ingredient in creating a luscious tofu kimchi soup.
We will have a light feast to sample our day creation with an in-house kombucha beverage.
Mei Ibach, born and raised in a Malyasian fishing village near Singapore, shares her passion for food as a techer at various culinary centers in Sonoma County as well as offering tours to Asia twice a year. She currently can be found giving food demos in the pantry area at SHED on Thursday afternoons from 4-5:30pm.
