Southern Oregon Wildfire School (SOWS)
Date: June 12-13, 2020 (Also one-day track available for either day) Time: 0700 - 1800 Location: Fire District 3 and the Denman Wildlife Refuge Area Cost: $50 for two-day or $25 for one-day (includes sandwich lunch)
**We are adding two one-day options for either June 12 or 13, following the Air Operations or Engine track. Class will be $25 for a one-day class.**
The Southern Oregon Wildfire School (SOWS) will provide a hands-on training experience to structural firefighters who are working to complete their initiated NWCG FFT1, SRB-E, or ST/TF Leader task books. Please note the following: This course is NOT intended to sign off or complete a task book at the end of the course.
There will no longer be a life fire training as part of this event, due to COVID-19.
While this training will cover various aspects ranging from FFT2 through Command & General Staff positions, the training focus is: Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1/ICT5) Single Resource Boss (ENGB) ST/TF Leader (STEN)
Our goals for this course and for the participants include, but are not limited to: Provide a safe environment for instructors and students Provide real-life scenarios for firefighters and incident managers in a controlled learning environment Provide training and education on the proper procedures for Check-In and Demobilization Develop inter-agency cooperative awareness Provide training and education to meet portions of the following NWCG position task books: Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1/ICT5) Single Resource Boss (ENGB) ST/TF Leader (STEN) Provide training and experience opportunities for various Overhead positions
