Stephanie Anderson - You're Such a Character (District Improv Festival Workshop)
Improv scenes are about relationships and the characters in them. A strong character choice can be inspired by anything and will launch a scene if you hold on tight. This workshop will use your sense of play & imagination, and techniques to set you free from the limitations that keep you from making bold character moves. Getting into the head of a character will keep you out of yours on stage.
Workshop participants can look forward to individual feedback & a chance to demonstrate what they've learned in structured performance time throughout the workshop.
Bio: Stephanie and improv met in 2005 in a beginning class at the DC Improv and they've been inseparable ever since. She honed her skills in short and long-form improvisation by taking classes over the years with leading instructors from NYC (UCB, PIT), LA (Groundlings), and Chicago (Annoyance, iO). While in DC, she was a WIT faculty member and performance coach to several indie improv troupes in the area. She is a former member of The Score, DC; Jive Turkey; Loser Josh; the WIT ensemble- Caveat; and Comedy Sportz, DC.
A year ago, Anderson followed her passion for improvisational comedy to Chicago- where she is participating in several collaborative performance projects, writing a one-woman show, and has completed year long programs at iO (formerly Improv Olympic) and in the Second City Conservatory.
