Jessica Arjet - Being Open, Being Connected (District Improv Festival Workshop)
Connection it's what let's you into your scene partners head. It's what allows you to work in unison. It's what opens you up to that raw vulnerability that makes the audience fall in love. Without connection your scenes feel like you are trapped in a glass box and frustrated that no one else is picking up on your cues. In this workshop Jessica Arjet will help you find that connection through a series of fun and powerful exercises you will open up to your fellow players and together to the audience. This is a great workshop to take with your troupe mates, but it will also be very helpful for the solo participant.
Bio: Jessica Arjet is an owner of The Hideout Theatre in Austin, Texas. She has an eclectic background starting with years in community and regional theater, a continuing successful career as a professional clown, and producer, director, and actor the Hideout Theatre. She is one of the main teachers of the Hideout Theatre, which includes the standard level classes, plus extra classes just for fun. This workshop was originally developed as an "Extra Curricular" class and received high praise from all the participants. Jessica performs and teaches a variety of improv styles, such as the grounded, character based work of her improv troupe In Our Prime, and the genera/narrative work frequently explored by the Hideout Theatre's main stage shows, but also the exquisite chaos that is improv for children. Currently she continues to clown, direct scripted work, and teach as much as she can while also performing and directing improv several times a week.
