Nature Journaling: Connecting with Nature w/ Jude Siegel
Nature Journaling is a way to connect with the natural world in a relaxed, centered and creative way.
It is a wonderful way to keep a track of your day's exploration, whether at home or while traveling. It is also excellent for plant journals, field notes, personal adventures, and to record information about the life around us, day to day, year to year. We will explore the nature of the place and of the day, open our senses, connect with earth and sky, and then record in our journals.
We will then incorporate some relaxed writing, simple drawing and some color (your choice of watercolor, crayons, colored pencils or pens), to express our observations and our experiences. Simple approaches and methods will be given, as we spend time both outside, and inside.
Some sharing of information about the gifts of the plants will be included.
Nature Journaling allows for individual freedom to express according to personal style. No art experience required.
Class includes time outside, and some walking and working outside.
Facilitator: Jude is a long time teacher, naturalist, herbalist and artist. She has taught adults and children in the Portland area, for over 40 years, including classes for OMSI, Hoyt Arboretum, Portland and Clackamas Community Colleges, as well as privately. She currently teaches for Multnomah Art Center, Portland Audubon, and Sitka Center for Art and Ecology and at her studio.
