Oedipus Rex: Written by Sophocles and first performed in 429 BC, "Oedipus the King" (or "Oedipus Rex") tells the story of a man desperately trying to escape his foretold fate, only to have it confirmed every step of the way. Having been told he was destined to marry his mother and kill his father, he escapes Corinth - only to learn that he succumbed to his destiny unknowingly.
Oedipus at Colonus: Written shortly before Sophocles death and first produced by his grandson (also called Sophocles) in 401 BC, Oedipus at Colonus chronologically occurs between Oedipus Rex and "Antigone though it was the last of the Theban plays to be written. The play serves to describe the end of Oedipus tragic life and introduce us to the characters who will be prominent in Antigone, namely, the titular character.
Antigone: Of the three Theban plays by Sophocles, Antigone is third in the order of events, but it was the first that Sophocles wrote, written in or before 441 BC and first performed that same year. This play details what happens to the members of Oedipus household following his death and the civil war that ensued between his two sons, which resulted in their deaths at each others hands. The primary focus is on the titular character, who is the elder daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta, and the events leading up to her death.
