Circus in the Park: VEN
The Contemporary Circus & Immersive Arts Center and Friends of Prospect Park are proud to present the 2nd annual Circus in the Park!
This year the circus is back and it's better than ever. Join us under the Big Top in Prospect Park in the heart of Troy, NY for:
by Cie Si Seulement
VEN", which means "come" in Spanish or "they see" in French, will be performed by acrobatic duo, Hugo Ragetly and Maria Del Mar Reyes, who graduated from the National Circus School in Montreal and toured with Quebec circus company The 7 Fingers.
In VEN, there is a circle placed on the ground, which acts as a discreet edge between the public and the two artists. This is a space of tension and of attention, which stretches and tightens. Like a breath animated by the commitment and the complicity between these two people. A refined scenario that comes to life in the intensity of the presences, the momentum of the bodies, of one listening to the other. We see with hearing, we look with the senses. The gesture is embodied and nourished by a very mastered technique, where hand balancing, juggling, Chinese pole and dance interact in a poetic whole. VEN addresses the part of humanity that we hold close, this feeling of confidence that elevates us.
