In a small Alabama town , an ex-con wants to recover his country music fame. His brother coaxes him into robbery, while his girlfriend, to help him readjust, bends the law herself. Meanwhile, in backwoods of the county, an old black man comes into a fortune making himself the target of angry white citizens.
Playwright Charles Johnson (photo at left) is a retired San Francisco firefighter who was raised in Alabama during the early desegregation time when most whites still longed for the old Jim Crow laws.
