Jean Becker with PEARLS OF WISDOM, in conversation with Governor Jeb Bush
Former First Lady Barbara Bush was famous for handing out advice: to friends and family, heads of state and Supreme Court justices, and certainly to her staff. Her advice ranged from what to wear, to what to say (and what not to), to how to live your life.

After the First Lady's passing in 2018, longtime Bush family aide Jean Becker worked to edit and narrate a compilation of that wisdom with the help of Mrs. Bush's family and those who knew her best.

Please join us for a special afternoon in the Grand Ballroom at FSU's Alumni Center as we celebrate the release of PEARLS OF WISDOM: LITTLE PIECES OF ADVICE (THAT GO A LONG WAY). Jean Becker and Governor Jeb Bush, the former First Lady's son, will discuss this endearing collection and its remarkable author. Jean will also sign books afterwards. All of the author's proceeds will benefit the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, and Midtown Reader will donate a percentage of sales to the Foundation as well.

The event will be held Friday, May 1 at 4:30 (doors open at 4pm) in the FSU Alumni Association's Grand Ballroom (1030 W. Tennessee St). Each ticket includes a hardcover copy of PEARLS OF WISDOM.

Praise for PEARLS OF WISDOM:

"A celebratory gathering of memories from Barbara Bush's friends and family, featuring her own quotes. Readers seeking insight on a dynastic political family will find a down-to-earth, humanizing portrait of a much-loved matriarch. A tribute to an American icon that brims with love and hope." KIRKUS

"This sage, valuable volume will appeal to readers looking for general advice, no matter one's political leanings." PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
