10:15 Introduction
10:20-10:30 Safety Discussion Columbia Crest vineyard managers (or SMWE Safety Officer) will discuss general safety requirements
10:30- 10:55 Machine Pre-Pruning Discussion on safety precautions; importance of equipment maintenance and operators; pre-pruning costs/savings; importance of trellising system.
10:55-11:10 Hand Pruning Discussion on safety precautions, pruning crew training requirements, pros and cons, and costs.
11:10-11:30 Minimal Pruning Keith Oliver of Olsen Brothers Ranch will discuss methods to transition to minimal pruning, and the effects on wine and juice grape quality.
11:30-11:45 Electric Shear Pruning demonstration VineTech will demo their electric shear unit, and discuss time requirements, pruning efficiency maintenance pros and cons.
11:45 -12:00 Demonstration of Hand Pruning Using a Pneumatic Pruning System Columbia Crest Estate Vineyard personnel will demonstrate the large tower pneumatic pruning system used in their vineyards.
