Dear Boston Roller Derby Community & Friends,
While the risk of exposure to COVID-19 in Massachusetts remains moderate, its spread is concerning for us all. Out of an abundance of caution and in following guidelines from the public health department, CDC, World Health Organization, and WFTDA we have decided to CANCEL Lobstah Roll. Boston Roller Derby will suspend all practices, scrimmages, bouts, and other events effective immediately.
This is devastating for all of Boston Roller Derby and Im sure is equally heartbreaking for many of you; for that we truly apologize. So many people have put in countless hours of hard work into making Lobstah Roll a success. Ultimately the health of our skaters, officials, volunteers, fans, and the public at large must be our first priority. The impact this will have on our ability to operate going forward and throughout the derby community is still unknown. We hope that circumstances will allow us to reschedule, but there are many factors and moving parts at play.
Our mission, as a nonprofit organization and part of the roller derby community, is all about bringing people together, empowering skaters, transcending borders, and cultivating community. We cant imagine life without it. Stay safe and healthy, and well be updating with any changes to our regular season schedule.
