The Kinston Trio w/Ira Wiggins, Brian Miller & Brian Horton
NC saxophonists, Wiggins, Miller and Horton celebrate Kinston's rich jazz tradition.
All have roots in Kinston, NC and were inspired by many musicians from that area. (Maceo and Melvin Parker), The Saints, saxophonist Zack Green, organist Ulysses Hardy, Robert and Marvin Wiggins (drummer and saxophonist) and many others. All 3 are also NCCU graduates. The name is an rewording of the The Kingston Trio, a folk group of the 1950s and 1960s. March 6th will work.
Ira Wiggins is the chair of the NCCU Jazz Program and Brian Horton is also currently on its faculty.
