Event
Jumaralis Trio
This trio is a chamber music ensemble made up of one clarinet, one cello and one piano. Similar to the classical piano trio, in this ensemble the violin is replaced by the n. The dramatically contrasting qualities of timbre of these instruments offers many musical possibilities with Beethoven being one of the first composers to make use of the somewhat unusual combination. Many other composers followed suit, as upon hearing Brahms Clarinet Trio op.114, his friend and scholar Eusebius Mandyczewski stated: It is as though the instruments were in love with each other. Clarinetist Julie Begg is joined by cellist Alison Patterson and pianist Martha Brickman to present a concert to be savoured.
