7th March 2020 - Introduction to Bicycle Maintenance
This 4-hour bicycle maintenance course will run on Saturday 7th March from 12-4pm. The course covers all the useful tips so you can keep your bike running for longer, including how to check a bike is safe, as well as general set up and making sure your bike is comfortable for you. We also look at useful basic tools and spares, how to clean and lubricate different parts of the bike, how to adjust brakes and replace pads, index gears, and repair punctures.
The course is held in a bicycle workshop with all the tools available, and parts to buy if needed, the course will be led by a qualified cycle maintenance tutor.
We find the most benefit is gained if you work on your own bike during the lesson, so please bring your own bike if you can. If this is not possible then we will lend you a bike for the duration of the course that is as similar to your own bike as possible.
The price of the course is £25-£50 per person.
We set the minimum price to be as affordable as possible whilst covering our basic costs, because we feel it's important for our community to have access to cycle training and resources. In this spirit, we encourage you to pay more if you can afford to do so as it really helps us in our work towards making cycling affordable and accessible. Thank you!
We need a minimum number of participants to run the course, therefore we recommend booking your place as early as possible. We will confirm 7 days before the event that the course is going ahead, we reserve the right to cancel the event if there are not enough attendees - in this case you will be refunded or given a place on the next course.
After this point, if you are no longer able to attend unfortunately you can only get a refund if we or you are able to fill your place with someone else.
Access: the workshop is currently not wheelchair accessible as it is up one flight of stairs. There is some free car parking outside the workshop.
