Masala Monday is a new pop-up series from Chef Deepak Saxena of DesiPDX. This is an opportunity for Deepak and the DesiPDX crew to step out of their tiny kitchen and execute more complex dishes that highlight the best of the season.
The food that Deepak serves is best described as "Local Fare with Indian Flair" or "Modern Indian" - blending together the flavors he grew up eating with the best of local ingredients and cooking techniques and styles from all over.
Seating is family style and the food is a mix of family style platters and plated portions. To keep the event intimate, capacity is limited to 30 people.
Your ticket includes a fabulous multi course meal and you will be able to purchase drinks - beer, wine, cocktails - from the Sisters Gourmet Deli bar.
MENU FOR 02/10:
Buttermilk curry with spiced kale dumplings; minty basmati rice; kalonji garlic chilli oil.
Seasonal salad greens; spice roasted farm veggies; apple & curry leaf dressing.
Savory sorghum & coconut milk porridge
Black lentil dhal
Braised collards & masala pork belly (tempeh available for vegetarians)
Accompaniments: Spicy green chutney, seasonal yogurt raita, seasonal pickles
Citrus coriander cake; chickpea-miso & kalonji caramel
The menu is 100% gluten and soy free. Those with celiacs disease or extreme gluten sensitivities should be aware that the Sisters Gourmet Deli kitchen is used to prepare gluten containing items. Doors are open at 6:30 and pre-dinner snacks and drinks will be available. Service begins at 7:15.
