Summer Classics Series A Staged Reading of four short plays by Tennessee Williams
Summer Classics Series At The Actors Studio of Newburyport This is TASN's third presentation in our Summer Classics Staged Reading Series. A chance for our audiences to see important plays written by celebrated playwrights for only $12.00 per ticket.
The four plays presented in this production: The Lady of Larkspur Lotion, 27 Wagons Full of Cotton, This Property is Condemned and Portrait of a Madonna were written in the 1940's. They offer a beautiful spectrum of characters and relationships delicately balanced in worlds that are sometimes apathetic, and other times hostile. The themes and conditions he explores here are clearly recognizable in his full-length plays. It is exciting to find the playwright's keen insight and brutal honesty unmistakably present in the short play format.
