"ONLY THREE FIFTH's HUMAN"
ONLY THREE FIFTHS HUMAN PLOT In 2019, Written and directed by Dr. Arletha Lands the play entitled ONLY THREE FIFTHS HUMAN. A black history play that is part of her collection under the Black Church Production ONLY THREE FIFTHS HUMAN is an African American history play that acknowledges the intense debate about the existence of slavery and the three fifths compromise rule under the constitution that rationalizes the irrational human status of the African American people within our present society. It raises questions regarding this nations dedication to liberty and human equality. Creative arts in this play will be carried out through acting, dance, singing, spoken word and short video scenes.
The plot of the play is described in four scenes providing changes in the American Constitution from 1700s, 1800s, 1900s and 2000s regarding the extreme measures of the African American human equality status and the crucial challenges faced by blacks in America on a daily basis to this present day as a people. The play interprets how human equality under our constitution is not being equally described or factually designed to give the real explanation to the purpose of the Three fifths Clause under the constitution, as it relates to blacks being still considered as property and if not, being totally abolished from slavery. The core concerns that are generated by our constitutional rights are left unaddressed which heavily relates to empowerment, identity and significance for the upcoming black millennia culturethe politics in the constitutional approach however is historically and discriminatory determined. The struggle to expose black millennia to new conceptual knowledge regarding racism that involves racial profiling, crucial treatment, and experience being debased by the servitude below the level of a free inhabitant plays a formative role in the livelihood and mindsets of our future millennia. As a black people, in order to stand within our society, we must continue to teach our young ones the true story of their existence in society and that our lives matter, we are a real person, and a strong people created by GOD. The truth for conceptual and perceptual knowledge is power and crucial to our existence.
This play focus on the 3/5s human compromise rule recognition and understanding, that it is time for blacks in America to be advised of their human equality and their true existence within the United States of American. The play speaks to I: FREEDOM: Slavery; 2: The THREE FIFTHS CLAUSE - Rationalizing the irrational; 3: RACIAL PROFILING - Accusing Me Falsely; and 4: UNDERSTANDING THE LAWS FOR BLACKS IN AMERICA & KNOWLEDGE IS POWER - I know my WORTH.
