Join us in celebrating Susan B. Anthonys 200th birthday! Suffrage Artist in Residence Madeline Hansen will lead a day-long celebration honoring this leader in the movement for womens right to vote. Over the course of the day, members of the public will visit our Votes for Women exhibit and participate in The Cabinet Meeting a readers theater play based on the premise that Susan B. Anthony is elected President and appoints a diverse group of accomplished women to her cabinet. Participants will read the play aloud under the direction of Madeline Hansen. The public is invited to participate in the reading, enjoy a piece of birthday cake, and sign Susan B. Anthonys birthday card. The play will take place in the Great Room, which will be specially decorated for the occasion.
During The Cabinet Meeting," Museum guests will have their own chance to perform. Madeline Hansen will hand out scripts, with lines ranging from a few paragraphs to a page and a half. She will then lead pre-registered Museum guests in reading this hour-long play, in which each participant takes on the role of a notable woman in local or national history.
