Comedy at the Kitchen, Croxley Green with Headliner Stephen Owen
Yellow Comedy returns to the Kitchen in Croxley Green on Friday 7th February with a night of comedy featuring headliner Stephen Owen.
The show will start at 8pm finishing at around 10.15pm and the venue has a fully licenced bar. Tickets are £4.50 in advance online.
Stephen Owen was born in Shepherds Bush London W12. He is the proud owner of one of the most unusual back stories in show business. In 1985, aged just 17 he signed his first professional performing contract supporting comedy legends Jimmy Marshall and Jeff Stevenson, as a young talented comedy impressionist.
Inspired by the likes of Freddie Starr, Bobby Davro and Steve Coogan he developed his act into a full cabaret spot. By the age of 18 he had worked many of the traditional smoke-filled working mens / social clubs in and around the London area. In 1986 he turned down the offer of a summer season with Warner Holidays and went onto to join the Met Police in 1987.
His talent for mimicry was questioned during his interview to join the Job. During a 30-year police career, Stephen specialised in Homicide Investigation and Disaster Victim Identification. With no conflict of interest, he continued to step in and out of the entertainment business as both a MC and Comedy Impressionist. Performing across many corporate hospitality events and comedy nights, Stephen is now celebrating his 35th year in the entertainment business.
A wide range of accurate celebrity and sporting impressions combined with his own brand of observational stand up has created many career highlights. Including New Zealand Rugby Legend Craig Dowds testimonial evening, supporting the England Barmy Army alongside Talk Sports Darren Gough, together with working alongside the fantastic comedy talents of Bob Mills, Gary Delaney, Adam Bloom to name but a few.
Having seen the best and the worst society has to offer, creating laughter has provided the most perfect of coping strategies. A naturally funny, experienced, engaging communicator with an inherent passion for comedy impressions. Last years highlights were supporting Clinton Baptiste from Peter Kays Phoenix Nights on his UK tour and work in progress on his one man show Stolen Identity performing in venues across the home counties. In 2020 Stephen is looking forward to spending more time on the corporate hospitality circuit as both an MC/After Dinner Speaker.
Super confident totally unflappable, Stephen Owen is every inch the natural comic. Such easy charm, immediately the audience know they are in competent and very funny hands. Bang On impressions and such an amiable way with the crowd I could listen all night (Alex Lowe Actor, Writer, Comedian)
Stephen Owen a superb mimic! His Dara `O Briain and Michael McIntyre make you wish they hosted a show together. Hilarious! (Lewis MacLeod, Radio 4 Dead Ringers)
Also Appearing - Mel Byron, Jim Daly, Naomi G, Ryan Mold, Georgie Morrell, Matt Rouse
MC - Andrew Carberry
This show is aimed at over 18s and is supported by Link4Growth SW Herts.
