Colum McCann in Conversation with David Ulin
The Skirball Cultural Center and Writers Bloc present Colum McCann with David Ulin.

Colum McCann, one of Ireland's great novelists, might have set his new novel in Ireland, on the border between Ireland and Northern Ireland. But his new novel, Apeirogon (a shape with a countable number of infinite sides), moves to Israel and Palestine and explores the unlikely friendship between two fathers, one Israeli, one Palestinian, who have lost their young daughters to shattering violence: the Israeli child to a suicide bomb, and the Palestinian child to rubber bullets.  The fathers recognize each other's unspeakable grief, and forge a profound friendship built on history, culture, time, and the yearning for peace. Colum McCann is the author of such magnificent novels as TransAtlantic and Let the Great World Spin. He has won the National Book Award, among a host of other prestigious international literary prizes.

In conversation with David Ulin.  David is the former book critic for the Los Angeles Times, and is the author of many books, including "Sidewalking: Coming to Terms with Los Angeles," "The Lost Art of Reading: Why Books Matter in a Distracted Time," and others.  He is the editor of several anthologies, including the award winning "Writing Los Angeles: A Literary Anthology."

Tickets and books are non-refundable.
