Rise & Shine: Spring Day Retreat
Energise body and clear the mind on this special self care retreat: yoga, qigong, yoga nidra, meditation and MELT, with a delicious lunch by Yoga Kitchen.

10.30am - 1.00pm EMERGING INTO THE LIGHT
Spring qigong and flow yoga works with our rising energy in the body, after the hibernation of winter. The liver and gall bladder meridians zigzag up the inside and down the outsides of the body, so it's all about finding space in our bodies from a good foundation, emerging out of hibernation safely, gently so we unfurl like fresh seedlings, refreshed and revitalised! Side bends, twists and balancing postures help build and ground our rising energy, detoxify and strengthen our body in celebration of the warmer lighter days. It is the perfect time to set goals for the year ahead in our practice through good alignment, focusing our attention through the drishti (gaze) in postures, complemented with pranayama (breathing techniques) to gently purify, mindfulness and relaxation to restore and calm.
1.00-2.00pm Lunch by Yoga Kitchen, a well travelled couple whose truly delicious vegetarian / vegan food is infused with flavours of Mexico, Spain, Italy and Greece. Prepare to feel utterly well fed and nourished :) x
2.00-5.00pm: EASING & RELAXING
Simple movement qi gong, feldenkrais and MELT to gently warm and invite ease. MELT is an incredible self massage into the hands and feet helping unwind knots and release pain in your fascia (connective tissue). It rehydrates your entire body. If you would like to continue this nourishing self care practice at home, kits will be available to purchase.
We will combine this with breathing to bring balance with special focus on Yoga Nidra ( Deep Relaxation), and Meditation. In my experience, 20 minutes of yoga nidra feels like having rested well for at least an hour! We will practise two nidras. A Himalayan and Spring Nidra to invite the body to deeply settle and long held patterns of tension relax and let go. Meditation is suitable for complete beginners to more experienced practitioners with focus on kindness.
You will leave feeling light, refreshed and centred.

Afternoon session is open to all levels.
14+ welcome accompanied by an adult
Venue has stairs up to studio.
Car parking is on the verges leading up to the turn off for the former riding school, Dumbreck Stables.
Walk through side gate by 5 bar gate, round first yard, round next corner and stone building with green door is the Yoga Barn.
Be advised the toilet is across the wee courtyard so bring umbrellas if inclement weather.
