A FUTURE WESTRN
C-LS's A Future Western explores classic western themes such as power, love, redemption, good versus evil, and life by the gun in order to seek what lays at the core of the instinctual self. In a society where organized authority lacks true power, one is forced to turn a blind eye toward lawless individuals. Without a formal moral construct, how does one determine what is just? How far is man willing to go in order to pursue personal justice? In a future where ones actions are of little consequence, this performance examines the limitations of ones own morality.

///

C-LS is an interdisciplinary performance art company founded by Lydia Shamoun. Embracing ideas of experimentation and intersection in performance, this New York-based company strives to transcend conventional limitations of performance while unifying mediums.

C-LS performances have toured across the United States, with their choreographic works featured in The New York Times and CityArts Magazine. Their pieces have been presented by On the Boards Open Studio, Velocity Dance Center, Raw Artists, and the Short Fringe at FronteraFest in Austin, TX. C-LS received the Directors Choice award at the Winter Follies festival in Brooklyn presented by Spoke the Hub. Their last evening-length performance, MASS, premiered at The Center for Performance Research in Brooklyn before touring to Base Experimental Arts Space in Seattle followed by their Chicago tour. Additionally, their works have been performed at the Alhadeff Studio, Studio 7, Broadway Performance Hall, among others.
