Safe and Sound
SAFE AND SOUND is a danced meditation on self-preservation and queer solidarity from dance artist Kevin Williamson. In this timely blend of movement, film, music, and narration, four dancers resist aural acts of violence, seeking pleasure through grief and community in their frustration. As the artists (Kayla Johnson, Justin Morris, Alex Rix, and Williamson) morph through emotional states, plunging into abandon and sensuality, they generate erotic counter-memories with the audience and each other. Films by Taso Papadakis and sound by Anna Luisa Petrisko, garments designed by Kelsey Vidic and lighting from Katelan Braymer augments the aesthetic experience. SAFE AND SOUND was made with support by producing partners New Neighborhood and Scripps Presents.
