Gene Luen Yang at Boswell for Dragon Hoops
Boswell presents an afternoon with award-winning New York Times bestseller Gene Luen Yang, who returns with DRAGON HOOPS, a riveting graphic novel, a nonfiction sports drama inspired by his life, his family, and the high school where he teaches.
This event is free, but registration is requested and will be required if we reach store capacity. You can also upgrade to a book-with-registration and get 10% off the price of the book and get signing line priority. The first 40 folks will get A, then B, and so forth. Register right here, at geneluenyangmke.bpt.me. Please make sure you register for each person attending, but please note that upgrading to the book includes registration for one person.
In Dragon Hoops, Gene reveals that he understands stories - comic book stories, in particular. Big action. Bigger thrills. And the hero always wins. But Gene doesn't get sports.
As a kid, his friends called him Stick, and every basketball game ended in pain. But at the school where he now teaches, it's all anyone can talk about. The men's varsity team, the Dragons, are having a phenomenal season. Each victory brings them closer to their ultimate goal: the California State Championships.
Once Gene gets to know these young all-stars, he realizes that their story is just as thrilling as anything he's seen on a comic book page. He know he has to follow this epic to the end. What he doesn't know yet is that this season is not only going to change the Dragon's lives, but his own as well.
Hope to see you at Boswell! Reminder that the upgrade-with-book is like a ticket. No cancellations after March 20. You can pick up your book up to six months after the event at Boswell and you can also call in to get your book personalized.
