Corey Hunter Wiscomb & Special Guests live at Orcas Grange Theater
Corey Hunter Wiscomb has found an absolute love of the Acoustic Blues.  Through the Port Townsend Acoustic Blues festival Corey was able to sit at the knees of the Masters to learn the music he admired so much straight from the source.  Some of Corey's mentors have been/are: Corey Harris; Alvin Youngblood Hart; Robert Belfour; Mary Flowers; Rev. Robert Jones, Guy Davis; & Michael Roach.  Corey's learned approach has always been to take the great tradition of the Blues and find his own "feel" and style within the art rather than imitate the mentors he has learned from.  The goal is music that is present, real, and played with a connection to humanity.

Corey has been honored to have local legend Grace McCune as a vocal coach on and off again for years now.  McCune is renowned for her work in theater, her ability to assist her students in finding their voice, and of course, she is a rock star herself!!!  McCune has recorded several albums and performed locally for years.  She has also toured Europe for special presentations of her music.  Passion, heart, and fun-as-hell are the three words that come to mind when describing McCune's music.

Jerry Eisner spent a lifetime on Blues harp.  Corey and Jerry first met in the 1970's.  Although it took a number of years to reconnect, Corey and Jerry found themselves at an island musical gathering when the two both slipped into some 1930's pre-war acoustic blues.  At the end of the song both were sort of awe struck that the other knew that type of music... the rest is history.  Blues guitar and harmonica go together like peas and carrots.  Eisner brings a raw emotion to his harp playing that elicits a heavy feel and a life lived full... just like the blues should be...

Chris Waage has been studiously working on his guitar chops for decades.  Working as a fellow teacher, it was after school one day that Corey and Chris first decided to pull out their axes and see what happens.  The connection was evident rather quickly, and two then later discovered that they had both learned music theory on the 6 string from Marcos DeFlurri, one of the founding members of Ancestor Radio, and Twirl.  Chris is a real listener.  He absorbs the feel of the song as if it were a blanket around his shoulders, and then he oh-so-tastfully brings his guitar in the mix.  It is tender at times, and at other moments can be as gritty as an unshaven sailor.

Joel Gamble is new to the island, but known previously for his exploits on violin as he has been coming up for years to jam shows locally.  He is sort of a virtuoso, and a tremendous tour-de-force with his bow and fiddle.  Known for being a "kinetic" player,  he's almost as much fun to watch move when he plays as it is to listen to him... the combo of which is undeniably entertaining and speaks to the dedication Joel has given to his music for a lifetime now.
