Kaleidoscope Dance Company Gift of Dance Concert
Join Kaleidoscope Dance Company, with Mosaic Junior Company, as they present the Gift of Dance, an afternoon of original, new modern dance works choreographed by youth ages 7-17. This year Kaleidoscope dancers are creating work inspired by paintings. Dancers have chosen paintings by a diverse group of visual artists including M.C. Escher, Banksy, Seattle muralist Ryan Henry Ward, Danish painter Anna Archer, and Salvador Dali as the motivation for their choreography.
Mosaic Junior Company shares an original piece about climate change. Using rhythmic chanting and music by Seattle composer Mark D. Cooper, the 10 young dancers highlight issues affecting our planet, such as mass extinction, melting glaciers, and the proliferation of plastic products. The piece encourages us to reflect on how climate change will drastically affect younger generations and ends with the hope that humans will work together in harmony with nature to re-address the balance.
Kaleidoscope Dance Company engages in a collaborative process in multi-age groups, using choreographic forms and devices to compose work that is deeply personal yet universal in its appeal to audiences of all ages.
