Fragile
In this production, half the cast are blind or visually impaired, and the other half are fully sighted. Fragile is 50/50 Theatres first piece and marks the culmination of two weeks of R&D.
Fragile is about the fragility of the human condition. Its about how breakable we all are, our mental health balancing precariously, circumstance and luck the only things stopping us from falling.
Fragile is also about grief, the power of it, and how it impacts our emotional and mental health.
In a city park, a relationship blossoms from a chance encounter when John, preparing to join the army, meets Liz, an aspiring therapist whose dream it is to live on affluent and pleasant, Mill lane. In the same park, another couple, Rachel and Michael rejoice in news of their first baby. Years later, lives intersect and fate plays its ugly hand...
50/50 Theatre was created by totally blind writer and director BJ Edwards and designer Faye Atkinson Rowse. Its aim is to champion equality and diversity in theatre.
