Peter and the Starcatcher
Edgewood High School is excited to present Peter and the Starcatcher for our 2019 fall play in the new McKinley Performing Arts Center. The Tony-winning Peter and the Starcatcher provides a hilarious and fantastical prequel for the beloved Peter Pan and his arch-nemesis Captain Hook. From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, Peter and the Starcatcher playfully explores the depths of greed and despair... and the bonds of friendship, duty and love. In this production, you will join a young orphan and his mates who are shipped off from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. They know nothing of the mysterious trunk in the captains cabin, which contains a precious, otherworldly cargo. At sea, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl named Molly, a Starcatcher-in-training who knows that the trunks precious cargo is a celestial substance so powerful that it must never fall into the wrong hands. When the ship is taken over by pirates led by the fearsome and poetical Black Stache, a villain determined to claim the trunk and its treasure for his own the journey quickly becomes a thrilling adventure. Peter and the Starcatcher is a play based on the 2004 novel Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson and serves as a prequel to J. M. Barrie's Peter and Wendy.
