Anne Bogart & Raja Feather Kelly - SITI Thought Center 2020
SITI THOUGHT CENTER - On Directing Anne Bogart interviews Raja Feather Kelly in this brilliant meeting of minds to discuss the unique challenges, delights, and questions facing theater directors today.
Raja Feather Kelly is a choreographer, director, and the artistic director of the feath3r theory and New Brooklyn Theatre. A three-time winner of the Princess Grace Award, Raja is the 20192020 Randjelovic/Stryker Resident Commissioned Artist at New York Live Arts, an inaugural Jerome Hill Artist Fellow, a 2019 Creative Capital award recipient, and a resident artist of HERE and Center for Ballet and the Arts at NYU. Raja has been granted a 20192021 National Dance Project Production Grant. Over the past decade, Kelly has created thirteen evening-length premieres and six short-format works as well as choreographing extensively for Off-Broadway theatre in New York City, garnering a Breakout Award from SDCF (2018).
Anne Bogart (Director) is one of the three Co-Artistic Directors of the SITI Company, which she founded with Japanese director Tadashi Suzuki in 1992. She is a Professor at Columbia University where she runs the Graduate Directing Program. Recent operas include: The Handmaids Tale, Handels Alcina, Dvoraks Dimitrij Verdis Macbeth, Bellinis Norma and Bizets Carmen. She is the author of five books: A Director Prepares; The Viewpoints Book; And Then, You Act; Conversations with Anne; and Whats the Story.
Thought Center 2019 is built on a foundation of intergenerational exchange. Each event will feature theater artists, mangers, and leaders of different generations, shifting our lens to different roles within the field. A rare opportunity to join SITI Company Members in intimate conversations with theater makers of all ages. Ask questions of people you may not normally find yourself in a room with, and be challenged to learn from those you may not normally turn to.
