"Women of Notes" Concert by the Madrigal Choir of Binghamton and the BHS Concert Choir
This joint concert with the Madrigal Choir of Binghamton and the Binghamton High School Concert Choir celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment giving women the vote. Under the direction of Bruce Borton and Jennifer Easley, respectively, all of the music being performed is by women except for one piece by Jake Runestad, "Rise Up," using words from the powerful writings of Susan B. Anthony.
From the plainsong of the 11th century mystic, Hildegard to Gwyneth Walker's arrangement of "Every Night When the Sun Goes Down" and Fanny Hensel and Amy Beach in between, among others, talented woman are represented in this concert. Guest artists are pianist Christine Capani and Doug and Mary Diegert, violin and viola.
