COURSE TOPIC: Adding implants under a compromised complete or partial denture may seem like a viable solution to provide improvement for our struggling patients. This course will clarify the specific steps that will have a huge impact on the success of these removable reconstructions.
Participants review state-of-the-art procedures for the highest quality removable prosthodontics and discuss procedures from case design to prosthesis delivery, impression making, and clasp-less partial designs. The course will include a thorough review of the science, fact and opinion of adding implants under an RPD.
For the completely edentulous patient, participants will review the necessary steps in making complete dentures successful while learning that these are the same steps that make overdentures successful. Each restorative dentist will be able to apply complete denture principles of impression making, recording centric and vertical dimension of occlusion as well as occlusal design to their denture and overdenture cases.
Finally, we will discuss many overdenture attachment options that are on the market. These will be broken down into simple categories to understand their similarities. We will create clear guidelines for selecting one overdenture attachment over another. Everyone will learn how many implants are necessary and in what location for todays treatment and tomorrows possibilities.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, attendees will learn how to:
1.Clarify the most important clinical steps to achieve patient success for RPDs
2.Learn to modify impression techniques for attachments and implants
3.Discuss the critical steps for success with complete dentures & overdentures
4.Identify the most ideal implant position for various overdenture solutions
5.Classify different implants and attachments to better understand their use
THE SPEAKER: Dr. M. Nader Sharifi holds a certificate in prosthodontics and a masters degree in biomaterials from Northwestern University. He received his dental education at the University of Illinois. He has presented more than 500 lectures covering numerous topics on restorative dentistry earning him recognition from esteemed study groups, societies and associations across the nation and internationally.
Dr. Sharifi currently maintains a full-time private practice in Chicagos downtown loop. Dr. Sharifi is a former assistant professor at Northwestern University and currently uses his experience as a five day a week wet gloved dentist to ensure time saving and cost-effective care are represented in his lectures. In 1996 he was named to the American Dental Associations Speakers Bureau and in 2007 Chicago Dental Society honored him with the Gordon Christenson Distinguished Lecturer Award. He has also been honored with Fellowship in the American College of Dentists and Membership in the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry both in 2010.

THE MENU Continental Breakfast of house made muffins, scones, and seasonal breakfast breads, seasonal fresh fruit salad, and a yogurt parfait topped with granola, as well as coffee/tea/juice/bottled water/soda.
Lunch will consist of assorted sandwiches and wraps, Italian meatballs in marinara sauce, a mixed greens salad, soup du jour, house made potato chips and dill pickles, assorted brownies and cookies, and coffee/tea/bottled water/soda.
