Piano Bar Night @SAC with Jim Merillat

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6 | 7-9 PM | $15 ($10 for Friends of SAC)

Join us as we continue our new piano bar series with all of your favorite Broadway tunes and a new accompanist/host-in-residence, Jim Merillat. Come sing along with the seasoned NYC piano bar veteran and don't hesitate to make requests...he plays them all!

The first Friday of the month SAC will once again transform into an East End version of your favorite NYC piano bar - Marie's Crisis, Don't Tell Mama's, The Duplex, Brandy's. Whether you are a singer or just a lover of musicals, you won't want to miss these enjoyable evenings of song and socializing!

Admission includes wine and other refreshments.

About James Merillat:

James Merillat (Jim) has worn many theatrical and musical hats in his day, finally ending up as a showtune piano player at the world famous Maries Crisis Café in the heart of Greenwich Village, New York City. An award-winning composer, Jim has been working professionally in the theatre since college, as a perfomer, writer, teacher and musician. He was an adjunct faculty member in the Drama Department at Catholic University in Washington D.C. for five years. Jim studied under Lehman Engel and Maury Yeston in the BMI Workshop for Musical Theatre composers and lyricists. On and off Broadway, he has worked with a variety of interesting people, including Jason Robards, Bernard Hughes, José Quintero, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Judith Ivey, Keene Curtis, Sally Kirkland and Edward Norton. He has been a keynote speaker and led workshops around the country for various theatre conferences. Jim was the winner of the first Bernice Cohen ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop Award. His musical, WONDERLAND HIGH, licensed through Music Theatre International (MTI) has been performed around the world  this past summer, Jim and his writing partner, Jesse David Johnson, traveled to Aberdeen, Scotland to see a production of the show. As a musical director, James has worked with school and community groups around the country, including the award-winning Riverdale Childrens Theatre in New York City. James is a proud member of ASCAP and the Dramatists Guild. His mother always said she loved watching him play the piano well assume shes happy now.
