Cornish Preparatory Dance Company at Cornish College of the Arts present the Nutcracker. Students from age 6 to 18 bring this classic story to the stage with heart and a bit of humor. The essence of the Nutcracker tradition is brought about in the telling of this story, giving students the opportunity to participate in a classical ballet with competence while at the same time honoring their particular talents.

This telling of the Nutcracker brings to life a charming party scene with occasional bits of humor, followed by an exhilarating battle scene revealing a growing tree, smoke, explosives and small scary mice. Act 1 closes with a serene yet invigorating dance in the Snow Scene. Act 2 begins with the steadfast Pages escorting you into The Land of Sweets and the many delightful divertissements performed for Clara. The evening finishes with Claras dream coming to a close with the help of her favourite friend, Drosselmeyer.

Approximately 2 hours, including one intermission, our Nutcracker is appropriate for all ages.
All performances are held at the Cornish Playhouse at the Seattle Center, 201 Mercer Street, Seattle.

Preparatory Dance Program Alumni and Alumni Parents please join us on Saturday evening (December 21th) before the show for our Annual Alumni Reception (Please RSVP). Connect with former dance friends and teachers. Enjoy snacks and beverages and let us know what you have been up to. Sponsored by the Parent Association of the Cornish Preparatory Dance Program. Reception opens at 6:00 pm. Show begins at 7:00 pm. Join us again at intermission.
