A Clear Blue Morning: Catching the Breath of Life
Singing music by Dale Trumbore, Herbert Howells, Elaine Hagenberg, Jake Runestad, and others

Singers in Accord choral ensemble invites you to A Clear Blue Morning - Catching the Breath of Life, with guest conductor Dr. Michael McGaghie, Dir. of Choral Activities at Macalester College. At the heart of the program is the invitation to savor the lives were given and the mindful reflection that takes us from a sense of loss to a place of gratitude, deliverance, and peace.  The choir will contemplate each of these themes featuring Requiem by Herbert Howells and selections from Dale Trumbore, Jake Runestad, Shawn Kirchner, Elaine Hagenberg, and an arrangement of Dolly Partons Light of a Clear Blue Morning, by Craig Hella Johnson.

Michael McGaghie is Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Macalester College, where he conducts the Macalester Concert Choir and Chorale and teaches courses on J.S. Bach and the Passion tradition. He also directs the Isthmus Vocal Ensemble (Madison, WI) and the Harvard Glee Club Alumni Chorus (Cambridge, MA). He remains active as an adjudicator and clinician throughout the United States.
Under his direction, the Macalester Concert Choir performed at the American Choral Directors Associations 2016 North Central division conference. He was one of seven American conductors selected for the ACDA International Conductors Exchange Program in China, where he taught and conducted at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Fudan University. His doctoral thesis on Minnesotan composer Dominick Argento received ACDAs Julius Herford Prize, awarded annually for the nations most outstanding dissertation in choral music. He was recently appointed the College/University Repertoire and Resources Chair for ACDA of Minnesota.
